Regional Express Airlines (Rex) and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) are probing the March 17 in-flight loss of a right-engine propeller on one of the carrier’s Saab 340s following an in-flight shutdown. As Aviation Daily reports, Rex grounded six of its 50-aircraft Saab 340 fleet “with propeller gearboxes and shafts from the same series” out of precaution. The missing General Electric CT7-9B propeller was found three days later, as FlightGlobal reports. The aircraft, en route from Albury to Sydney, landed safety in Sydney. ATSB’s probe continues.
